Champions of the Stoney Creek Tournament of Champs
Entering the Stoney Creek Tournament of Champions; the U11AA Gryphons had won 4 of their last 5 regular season games which currently puts them at the top in the division.
The Gryphons went 2-0-1 in the round robin beating the Streetsville Tigers 3-1, Buffalo Regals 2-1 and tying Gloucester Rangers 2-2.
Off the to the semis where the Gryphons played the Glancaster Bombers. Glancaster has been a tough opponent in the 3 games they’ve played against each other this year with two games ending in 2-2 ties and a 4-2 loss. Keeping up the momentum from the Round Robin, the Gryphons came out strong and kept up with the pressure all game. 2 goals in the first, another 2 in the second and one in the third resulted in a 5-1 win for the Gryphons.
Championship Sunday.. The Gryphons were up against the host team, Stoney Creek Warriors.
The Gryphons were ready to play and came out flying scoring less than 2mins into the game. After scoring the first goal, the Gryphons held onto the momentum and never looked back. Another goal in the first and three in the second, had the Gryphons up 5-0 after the 2 periods. Gryphons played a smart final period and with the time counting down, the final buzzer went.
U11AA Guelph Gryphons were Champions on Championship Sunday.

The Gryphons are right back to business on Monday which they travel to Milton to face the Winterhawks at 6:30pm.
