WHAT IS HOUSE LEAGUE AND SELECT?

House League provides the opportunity to over 1000 players to play the game we all love. GMHA House League Season will commence the early-mid October, with pre-season evaluation skates take place near the end of September. A detailed schedule of evaluation skates, season games and practices will be available on the website mid August. The season concludes with Championship Weekend in end of March/early April.

Our Association could not exist without a devoted and enthusiastic group of volunteer parents and non-parents.  Our hope is that through the players experience our youth will discover the warm fellowship of team play, the friendly rivalry of competition, leadership and athletic skills, and a vision for their future. We work to provide a fun and comfortable environment, where players are taught the knowledge and skills required to play the game.

Every House League division has a Convenor and each team is assigned a bench consisting of a Head Coach, Assistant Coach (es) and a Trainer.  All bench staff are subject to a mandatory Police Records Check and are required to complete the designated OMHA coaching certification programs pertaining to the division in which they are participating.

Together we will strive to work with a clear commitment to excellence, with the very best interests of our youth foremost in our minds and with a vivid attitude of pride in our association, our city, our country and the game of hockey.

Work hard, have fun and enjoy the season.

How Does House League Work?

Players take part in 2 weeks of pre-season evaluation skates that transpire over 2 weekends, in order to gauge each players abilities and to help ensure we create well balanced teams for the season. The teams are selected by the division Coaches and the Convenor and further team balancing decision are made by the Director of House League where required. Players will be notified around the middle of August as to the start of the pre-season evaluations and when the regular season begins. Once pre-skate evaluations are completed, you are then drafted to your HL team, for the season to begin early Oct.
