Below are guidelines for you to follow based on your child's age, and specific situation (ie: out of town Guelph Zone player, Out of Town F1 Waiver player, etc.).



YOU MUST REGISTER AND PAY PRIOR TO ATTENDING A TRYOUT SESSION. ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE PROVIDED IN ADVANCE. PLAYERS WILL BE TURNED AWAY IF YOU ARRIVE AND HAVE NOT PAID OR REGISTERED FOR TRYOUTS OR PROVIDED YOUR PROPER PAPERWORK.



For the 2022-2023 season, Guelph Minor Hockey Association (GMHA) Tryouts and Evaluations are split between Spring and Fall as follows:

U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13 and U18 – Fall 2022 (September)

U14, U15 and U16 – Spring 2022 (Started April 25th and have been completed)


Timeline for Fall ADP Evaluations and Rep Tryout Registration

August 8th - Tryout Registration Opens

 

August 8th to 22nd - Early Bird Pricing 

 

August 22nd - 29th - Late Registration ($40 late fee will apply)

 

August 29th - Final Registration Deadline

 



Advanced Development Program (ADP) Player Evaluations

U8 (2015) - U9 (2014) ADP Player Evaluations

U8/U9 ADP will have a series of 4 “preparation skates” to be held between September 6th and 18th.  These skates are to help players get back on the ice and prepare for the evaluation skates.  No evaluations will take place during these skates.


These preparation skates are then followed by 4 “evaluation skates” held between September 19th and 30th. Players will be evaluated and placed in groups/teams by GMHA skills development coaches.


Schedule
The general timeline for U8 ADP is as follows: 

Preparation Skates - Sept 6-18: 4 sessions

Evaluation Skates - Sept 19-30: 4 sessions

 

Specific dates and times will be provided to all registered families once they are available.


Pricing (includes all 8 sessions)

Up to August 22nd (Early Bird) - $160

After August 29th - $200




 

U10 (2013) - U11 (2012) Rep Tryouts

The U10 and U11 age groups begin with a series of 4 “preparation skates” to be held between September 6th and 9th. Provided in alignment with Hockey Canada’s U11 Player Pathway, these evaluation skates help players to get back on the ice after the summer and prepare to be at their best for tryouts. No evaluations will take place during these preparation skates.

Once the preparation skates are completed, the U10 and U11 tryouts follow a sequential release process in which teams are selected by level, starting at AAA and continuing through AA, A and BB.

Once the prep skates are completed, the tryout process will commence beginning with AAA, AA, A, and completed with BB.


Though specific dates are times are not yet available, the general timeline will be as follows:

AAA - September 10-16

AA - September 17-23

A - September 24-30

BB - September 28 - October 5


Pricing (includes 4 preparation skates)

For players wishing to enter tryouts at the AAA level:

Up to August 22nd (Early Bird) - $160

After August 22nd - $200


For players wishing to enter tryouts at the AA level:

Up to August 22nd (Early Bird) - $140

After August 22nd - $180


Non-Guelph Residents and F1 Waiver/Permission to Skate Players

If you reside outside of Guelph, please note that in order to be eligible to attend tryouts in Guelph as a non-Guelph resident you must provide the proper documentation ahead of time. The registration form will allow you to attach the documentation. If you do not have said documentation during registration, please provide prior to tryouts starting or you will not be allowed to step on the ice.

AAA Level

  • Players from within the Guelph Zone (i.e., Centre Wellington, Woolwich, and Arthur) require a Permission to Skate Form from their home association.

  • Players from another OMHA Centre outside of the Guelph Zone require an F1 Waiver from their home AAA Zone for Centres adjacent to Guelph. Review the OHF F1 Waiver process for the specifics of what you may require.

  • Players from outside of the OMHA require an F1 Waiver from their home AAA Zone for Centres adjacent to Guelph. Review the OHF F1 Waiver process for the specifics of what you may require.


AA Level

  • Non-Guelph residents are not eligible to tryout within Guelph at the AA level for U10/11

 


U12 (2011) - U13 (2010) Rep Tryouts

U12 and U13 tryouts follow a sequential release process in which teams are selected by level, starting at AAA and continuing through AA, A and BB.

Though specific dates are times are not yet available, the general timeline will be as follows:

AAA - September 10-16

AA - September 17-23

A - September 24-30

BB - September 28 - October 5


Pricing

For players wishing to enter tryouts at the AAA level:

Non-Guelph Residents and F1 Waiver/Permission to Skate Players

AAA - August 23 - 29

AA - August 30 - September 5

A - September 6 - 12

For players wishing to enter tryouts at the AAA level:

Up to August 22nd (Early Bird) - $80

After August 22nd - $120


For players wishing to enter tryouts at the AA level:

Up to August 22nd (Early Bird) - $60

After August 22nd - $100



Non-Guelph Residents and F1 Waiver/Permission to Skate Players

  • Players from outside of the OMHA require an Uncontested Release Form from their Home Centre or AAA Zone.


AA Level

  • Players from other OMHA Centres that do not offer a AA program must provide a Non-Resident Player (NRP) Form from their home association.




SELECT TRYOUTS BY AGE GROUP

Select Tryouts will be run prior to House League official season start date. Select Players are to be divided equally amongst their House League teams. You must be registered and paid for GMHA House League to be eligible to try out for Select.

U14, U15 & 16 SELECT TRYOUTS: September 24 & 25 *please see tryout schedule for details
U10/11, U12 & U13 SELECT TRYOUTS: October 6 & 7 *please see tryout schedule for details.

 


U14 (2009), U15 (2008), & U16 (2007) SELECT TRYOUTS

All players who purchased a Rep Tryout Pass in April will not be required to purchase a Select Tryout Pass. We intend to run 2 Select tryouts per age group pending ice availability. Depending on interest, GMHA is looking to run a select team for each age group. Therefore, we would have:

U14 (2009) Select

U15 (2008) Select

U16 (2007) Select


Though specific dates and times are not yet available, the general timeline will be as follows:

U14-16 Select Tryouts: September 24 & 25. Please see tryout schedule for details.

As noted above, if a Rep Tryout Pass was purchased in April, you are not required to purchase a Select Tryout Pass

Select tryout pass registration will open mid-September.

 


U10/11 (2012-2013), U12 (2011), & U13 (2010) SELECT TRYOUTS

All players who purchase a Rep Tryout Pass in August will not be required to purchase a Select Tryout Pass. We intend to run 2 Select tryouts per age group pending ice availability. GMHA is looking to run a Select team for:

U13 (2010) Select

Player Movement
If you are looking to pursue opportunities with other associations and wish to obtain release paperwork from Guelph in the form of:
- F1 Waiver
- U18 Permission to Skate
- U18 Uncontested Release
