U9 Advanced Development Program (ADP) Player Evaluations

Guelph Minor Hockey's programming at the U9 age group (2016 birth year) is divided into 2 available options - U9 House League (Skills Based Development) and Advanced Development (ADP).

For more details on U9 hockey options, CLICK HERE.

ADP is the "high frequency" option, combining additional ice-time with professional skills coaches to offer accelerated development for young players. The commitment includes 3 weekly practices and 1 weekly game (sometimes 2 once league play begins), as well as an additional “ADP Fee” that covers the additional associated costs.

To participate in U9 ADP, players must register for ADP Evaluations and be selected for one of the 3 teams (54 players total).

While roster size limits the number of spaces available on ADP teams, it is important for all players to be able to access their desired level of skill development. To support this important concept, players not selected for an ADP team will have the option to access additional skill development for a fee. More details to be released in October pending ice availability.

Preparation Skates, Evaluation Skates, and Goalie Sessions

Preparation Skates - 4 practices to be held between September 4th and 14th.  These skates are to help players get back on the ice and 'prepare' for the evaluation skates.  No evaluations will take place during these skates.

Evaluation Skates
 - 4 evaluation sessions held between September 14th and 27th. Players will be evaluated and selected for teams by GMHA skills development coaches.

Goalie Sessions - 2 sessions of introductory goalie instruction for any and all players who are interested in pursuing the goalie position. Equipment and instruction will be provided. Players are encouraged to try the goalie position and consider the option of being evaluated for a goalie position in the ADP program!

The general timeline for U9 ADP is as follows:

Preparation Skates - Sept 4-14 (4 sessions)

Evaluation Skates Part 1 - Sept 14-20 (2 sessions)
Evaluation Skates Part 2 - Sept 21-27 (2 sessions)
Goalie Sessions - TBD (2 sessions)

Specific dates and times will be provided to all registered families once registration numbers are confirmed.

Pricing for Preparation and Evaluation Skates (includes all 8 sessions):

Up to August 22nd (Early Bird) - $160

After August 22nd - $200

As you will note, the Advanced Development Program is an accelerated development program that provides interested players and families with a higher-frequency option for hockey.
