WHAT IS ADVANCED LEAGUE?
The 'Advanced League/Select' offers an enriched hockey experience, enhancing competitiveness across two specialized programs, all within a structured, seasonal framework. Serving as a pivotal link between Recreational and Representative hockey, it provides players with an essential transition while upholding a consistent seasonal calendar that cultivates healthy competition among different associations, akin to the Representative program.
Whether participating in the full-time or part-time stream within the Advanced League/Select, players from other centers can try out for any age group within Guelph Minor Hockey for the Advanced League teams. This is possible because the part-time stream is the Select program and the full-time teams fall under House League rules, both of which have no geographical boundaries. However, these players are NOT eligible to affiliate (AP) with any GMHA Representative team. This means that can not be called up as a back-up player for GMHA Representative teams.

U10/11 TRYOUTS
U10/11 AL Tryouts will be run prior to House League official season start date, (roughly the second week of September (TBC)). AL players in U10/11 will follow the Advanced League Part Time Program (also known as Select) are to be divided equally amongst their House League teams. This hybrid program follows Select rules and regulations, combining participation in the House League Program and the Select program, competing part-time in the Tri-County Advanced League. Players in the age group will play both House League and Select.

U12 - U16 (2009-2015) AL TRYOUTS
AL Tryouts will be run prior to House League official season start date, (roughly second week of September (TBC)). AL players in U12 to U16 will not participate in the House League Program. You must be registered and paid for GMHA House League to be eligible to try out for AL.

HOW TRYOUTS WORK
COST AND REGISTRATION
IMPORTANT: If you purchased a Spring Rep Tryout Pass, you are automatically registered for AL tryouts and are not required to register and/or pay for an AL Tryout Pass. If you DID NOT participate in Spring Rep Tryouts with GMHA, you will be required to register and pay for AL Tryouts ahead of time.
If you did not participate in Spring Rep Tryouts with GMHA, the fee for tryouts is $30. You must be registered with GMHA within the House League Program and have filled out the AL Tryout Form here
DATES AND TIMES
Tryouts for AL will be run roughly the second week of September. Information will be sent out and posted in the near future, so please plan accordingly.

PART TIME AL: U10/11 (2014-2015) AL TRYOUTS
FULL TIME AL: U12 (2013), U13 (2012) U14 (2011), U15 (2010) & U16 (2009) AL TRYOUTS
We intend to run a minimum of 2 AL tryouts per age group (minimum) starting the second week of September (more details to come). Depending on interest, GMHA is looking to run the following AL teams:
U10/11 (2014-2015): AL Part Time
U12 (2013): AL Full Time
U13 (2012): AL Full Time
U14 (2011): AL Full Time
U15 (2010): AL Full Time
U16 (2009): AL Full Time

As noted above, if a Rep Tryout Pass was purchased in April, you are not required to purchase a AL Tryout Pass
**THE ABILITY TO RUN A TEAM WITHIN EACH AGE GROUP IS DEPENDENT ON THE TRYOUT REGISTRATION NUMBERS, AND PLAYER ABILITY. GMHA WILL REVIEW THROUGHOUT THE TRYOUT PROCESS, AND INFORM FAMILIES ON THAT DECISION.**
