(Post-Game 4) Guelph Drops 4th Straight vs Orangeville
Guelph came ready to play in this one. Right from the first drop of the puck, the Gryphons were looking quick, poised and very much driving much of the play in the 1st period. However, it was a different story in the 2nd.
While holding the flyers to a scoreless tie after the first 15 minutes of play, it was Orangeville that took over the momentum in the 2nd period putting up 5 unanswered goals. At no point, however, did our Gryphons look like they were ready to give up, and continued to fight through the 2nd and into the 3rd.
Ironically, Guelph's biggest problem early in the season was maintaining momentum after the 2nd/3rd period flood, and after the challenges faced in the 2nd, Guelph played a far more structured and disciplined 3rd period. However, the Gryphons remained snake bitten in the Goals For Department and were unable to solve the Orangeville Tender.
The flyers added one more goal in the 3rd to send the Gryphons home with a 0-6 loss and a 0-4 record to start the season. One positive, and for the 2nd straight game, Guelph registered fewer penalty minutes than their opponent.
