Hespler Olympics - Tournament Champions!!!
The U13 Select team was crowned champions for the Hespler Olympics Tournament this past December 27-29.
During the Round Robin, the team went 3-0-1 to finish in first place with 18 GF and 2 GA. The Semi Final was a convincing 5-0 win over the North London Nationals and moved us to the Championship game.
The Championship game pitted us against the Vaughan Rangers Red whom we had tied 1-1 in the Round Robin. It was an extremely close and well played game from both teams. Vaughan jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and Guelph tied it up in the second. Guelph really pushed hard in the 3rd and were rewarded with a penalty shot with 2 minutes left. With the calm of an NHL veteran, Ben Rooyakkers deked five hole and scored to give us the lead and the Championship.
A great tournament played by all of our players and they will cherish these memories with their teammates for life.
Congratulations U13 Select!
