Novice AA Fall to Petes In Power Play Semi Finals
Despite one of their stronger efforts of the season thus far, the Novice AA Gryphons came out on the wrong end of a 3-0 score against the Peterborough Petes on Sunday morning in semi final action of the Guelph Power Play Tournament.
Peterborough, who were dominant the entire weekend and were the eventual tournament champions, scored once in each period to overcome the Gryphons tenacious checking and hustle.
Depite being shutout, the Gryphs did not lack in scoring opportunities. Trenton Harris and Caysen Craig were both stoned by the Petes goaltender on glorious chances and Tanner Bothwell had a goal disallowed as the net was dislodged partway through the third period.
Alessandro Grusso was named Player of the Game for his outstanding effort between the pipes. Nolan Chabot was named Defensive Player of the Game for his steady work patrolling the blueline the entire weekend.
The Gryphons return to league action this Saturday as they host the Burlington Eagles.
