Novice, 2016-2017, U16 (Guelph Minor Hockey Association)

A goal in the opening minute was all the scoring in the game as the Guelph Gryphons Novice Selects edged the Acton Chargers 1-0 on Monday evening at West End.

On Friday March 17 the Gryphon Novice Selects travelled down Highway 7 to Kitchener where they were shut out 3-0 by the Jr Rangers. The game was a struggle for the Gryphons who had trouble adapting to the Olympic ice surface and were victimized by the Rangers passing and playmaking skills.   The Gryphons did generate several scoring chances, including breakaways by Tanner Johnson early in the first period and Nicky Tyas to open the third, but were unable to solve Kitchener's strong goaltending. Led by excellent goaltending performances by Carter Curran and Max Heroux, the Gryphon Novice Selects prevailed 4-0 over the Acton Chargers on Saturday evening.  Both Curran and Heroux made several point blank stops to post their first shutout of the season.

The Guelph Jr Gryphons Novice Selects traveled to Fergus on Sunday evening and came home with a convincing 7-1 victory over the Center Wellington Fusion.  The victory was a team effort as six different players pitched in with the scoring.
