March 4 Centre-Wellington Fusion @ Guelph Gryphons
Looking for the big Friday night win over the Welly County Rivals!

Exciting two way start to this game, with Sergio making some big saves to start, as both Guelph and CW came to play… for now.  Late in the first Guelph got on the board for the 1-0 lead as Nolan B or Noah (my notes were bad) sent a hard pass up the boards from behind Sergio, to Nolan S, who chipped it up to Ty.  Ty stepped inside the CW blueline and fired the long-shot in.  1-0 Guelph.  Spoiler – Sergio, with some help from his friends, would keep that “0” there!

The second started a little less “two-way”, as Guelph had virtually all the possession from 15-8:50, even on a penalty kill.  The puck rarely even got in past Guelph’s blue line.  The Fusion got a few chances around Sergio for a minute or so, but then on a Guelph penalty kill Seba and Will, continuing their excellent PK work from Thursday night, were buzzin’ the Fusion keeper – across, around, behind, in front; Seba stepped back behind the goal line, waited for Will to get set and fired him a pass; great chance, but the keeper was up for knocking it away… unfortunately for him, Seba was there to pick it up again, and again he stepped back behind the goal line and crossed it out in front to Will; he gave the keeper no time to get set this time.  2-0 Guelph.

Early in the third, with the game a bit tense as the Fusion were showing a bit of life, Guelph came back up ice to CW’s zone and started dominating again.  Noah blasted one from the point, Ty got the rebound, creating another rebound for Will, who dragged it around the goalie and buried it for his second.  3-0 Guelph.  A few minutes later, and Guelph was still controlling the game… Seba came out from behind the net, passed it to Cam, who dropped it back to Malin on the line; Malin fired it on net and Cam got a piece of it to re-direct it in.  4-0 Guelph.  Late in the third, Will was flying around the ice, entered the CW zone, fired a shot on net, it rebounded back to the blue line to Evan and he fired it in for the 5-0… a HUGE win for Guelph over this rival, and a great shutout for Sergio, who despite Guelph’s dominance of possession, still had to do work to make a lot of good saves.

Thanks to call-up, Malin.
