OHF/Hockey Canada/Ontario Government COVID-19 Hockey Rules - Absolutely No 5v5 Permitted
Dear Coaches, parents and GMHA members,

It has been brought to our attention numerous teams/coaches are not following the OHF/Hockey Canada Rules set out for Return to Hockey, and are violating the Ontario Emergency Measures put in place for hockey by playing 5 on 5 hockey during GMHA ice times.  The GMHA neither promotes, supports nor condones the playing of 5 on 5 hockey at this time.

These rules are set out by our governing bodies and public health for the safe return to hockey of our children.  By violating these rules you are putting our association at risk of being fined, losing our insurance and our ability to operate.

As a result of the seriousness consequences of these actions, any coaches or teams that break these rules will be subject to the following consequences:

  • coaches will be removed from the team immediately and will not be eligible to coach for at least the following season
  • teams may be suspended from the ice with no refunds.

Below is the updated OHF programming which now reflects the Ontario Government Framework, special note at no stage does it permit 5 on 5 hockey nor has it ever permitted this.

Please lets all work together to keep our kids on the ice and our community safe.

If you have any questions or certainly concerns of your or your players safety please feel free to bring it to our attention.

We are working hard to keep our players and families safe, while still being able to offer an opportunity to play hockey.

Please work with us to keep everyone safe.

Thank you!
