Minor Peewee AA Rally To Tie Brampton
Coming off their tournament in Buffalo, a tired Gryphon Minor Peewee squad returned to action on Monday night against the Brampton 45's. A goal with just 9 seconds remaining allowed the Gryphons to escape with a 3-3 tie.
Brampton opened the scoring 1:25 into the contest to take an early lead. But with 1:10 remaining in the opening frame, Tyler Chadwick ripped home a loose puck in front to even the score 1-1 after one period of play.
Brampton took advantage of some sloppy Guelph play and jumped out to a 3-1 lead. But with 38 seconds left in the second, Olan Norton walked out of the 45's corner and shoveled in the puck short side to get the Gryphons within a goal. Hard work in the corner by Ryder Burns earned an assist on the play. The scored stood 3-2 after two periods of play.
The one goal deficit loomed large as the clock ticked down and Guelph poured on the pressure with the goalie pulled. Off a scramble in front, Tyler Chadwick potted his second off the night with 9 seconds on the clock to even the score 3-3.
The Gryphons return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Oakville at the U of G as part of Gryphon Day.
