Awesome Job Gryphons’ Bantam Select Team!!!

I am very pleased to report that this year’s Food Drive was very successful - far exceeding last years’ effort by adding 2 hours to the collection time. This year, the 2019 Bantam Select Team collected:

1674.2 LBS of food for the Guelph Food Bank

$1287.90 for The Salvation Army Christmas Toy Hampers

The discussions with the players at various times through the day about the need to support others in the community were well received.  When they ‘felt’ how enriching the process is, they had motivation to push though the nervousness and engage the public to ask them to support. Once they begin to understand the publics’ appreciation of the effort the team was making with ‘Thanks’ and accolades, the competition level rose up in the players to get Food Drive Bags in shopping carts and collect as much money as possible from every customer they could.

CTV news caught wind that we were working hard at Metro to collect for the Guelph Food Bank and dropped by for a brief interview to create some exposure for the effort. See CTV News clip here !!

This news clip show’s food collection at Zehrs happening simultaneously on Saturday as well.

The opportunity to get our young players out of their comfort level a little bit and give back to the community is worth the time.

Big thanks to everyone who supported our 2019 Bantam Select Food Drive, including:
