I want to give back to the game that has become a great passion in my life, and understand skill development is at the heart of team success.
Ryan Spiegelhalter is returning to GMHA for his third season as the AAA Head Coach for our 2014-born Guelph Jr. Gryphons. A non-parent coach, Spiegelhalter has a wealth of certifications and local experience.
Coach Speigelhalter is a seasoned non-parent hockey coach with over 19 years of experience in the sport, working at many different levels, age groups, and in several capacities. His passion and desire to coach came from coaching his two young sons through the minor hockey system. Ryan is known for his strategic acumen, and his ability to develop players' overall skills. He's been instrumental in leading teams to multiple championships, and emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
He is dedicated to fostering a positive environment and mentoring young athletes while preparing them for both competitive play and life beyond hockey. He has served as a head coach at the U10 AAA level in Brantford and Cambridge in the 2022/23 and the 2020/21 seasons, respectively. Speigelhalter was a member of the Cambridge Minor Hockey community for over a decade and possesses several certifications within Hockey Canada; including Development 1 certification. With a passion for player development, Speigelhalter has been helping to improve the skating skills of several age groups through his small group power skating sessions over the last 2 hockey seasons.
His core philosophy centers around holistic player development while fostering individual confidence, a positive team culture and an environment consisting of respect and accountability. Above all, he wants players to enjoy the game while helping each player reach their full potential on and off the ice.
