Bantam, 2016-2017, U10 (Guelph Minor Hockey Association)

The Bantam AA Gryphon's finished off an amazing season last week by defeating Halton Hills Thunder in Game 5 of their Tri-County Championship series. The Gryphon's came out very strong, taking games 1 & 2, however after suffering two close losses in Halton, returned home for game 5. Halton pressured early however the Gryphon's took control mid-way through the second period and never looked back. The win was a true measure of team success, and was supported by fantastic goal tending throughout the playoffs. Series Co-MVP's were goalies Aiden McVittie & Liam Oakley. 

The Bantam AA Gryphons will be taking on Halton-Hills in the Tri-County League finals starting Wednesday night in Georgetown. The Gryphons battled hard and escaped the group stage going 5-0-1, and fielded a healthy lineup for the first time this postseason. The Gryphons return to Guelph this Saturday at 3:45pm for Game 2. 

The Bantam AA Gryphon's concluded the regular season on Wednesday night with a 5-2 win over the Ancaster Avalanche. This win secured the #7 position for the Jr. Gryphon's who had a strong showing this season, and finished off with a 13-10-5 record in league play. After a great round robin in the Garden City Early Bird, which saw the Bantam AA Gryphons end up 3-1-0, the team qualified for the semi finals. They would end up face the Clarence Mustangs, and backed by solid goaltending, defeated the Mustangs' 5-0 to secure a birth in the finals against Garden City. The Falcons came out very strong and the Gryphons' pushed back, however the Falcons relentlessly pressured the Gryphons and ended up taking the game. The coaches would like to thank the players & parents on a great weekend.

The Guelph AA Major Bantam Gryphons will head to St Catherine's this weekend to partake in the Garden City Early Bird tournament! The Gryphons will be in tough against a deep pool of teams from across Ontario and the United States. Action kicks off Friday at 11:15 am against Brantford 99'ers.
