The Original 6? The NHL was created in 1917 and there were many teams in the first 25 years of the league, before the NHL became 6 teams. Then, it was a 6-team league for another 25 years before expansion in 1967 to 12 teams. February is Black History Month in Canada. With that in mind, I present to you this...PK, Malcolm, and Jordan Subban, Wayne Simmonds, Dustin Byfuglien, Grant Fuhr, Tony McKegney, Jerome Iginla, Evander Kane, Joel Ward, Georges Laracque, and many more. NHL All-star Anthony Duclair of Ottawa is among the latest.

Love for the game of hockey includes learning and understanding some of the history. Every Canadian hockey player needs to know the story of the 1972 Canada-Russia series. It created a legacy of hockey in Canada unlike any other event.

As we head into our first tournament, here's a brief look back at the ultimate tournament competition - the Olympics. Specifically, the 2002 Olympics in Utah, USA and the Gold Medal hockey games. Both games featured rivals Canada vs the home team, USA.

Throughout the season I will continue to be posting various stuff about hockey, including player bios, interesting historical stuff, and whatever else comes to mind. This is for the players to learn about and increase their love for the game, and for parents to do the same, or relive moments from the past.
