Jr. Gryphons Continue to Play Strong in Playoffs!!!
Today the Tyke B Jr. Gryphons played the Oakville Rangers in a fight to the finish resulting in a 1-1 tie!

The smoke cleared at the end of the 3rd period for the crowd to see the Tyke B Gryphons celebrate their "fight to the finish" tie against the Oakville Rangers. As the Gryphons surrounded their teammates to congratulate each other on a spectacular game, it was the "smoke" coming from the Gryphon goalies Trenton Goode and Anderson Mau both on fire that made the game incredible! Remarkable saves by both Gryphon goalies helped to keep scoring chances nearly impossible for the Oakville Rangers.

In the 1st period both teams went end to end fighting for the 1st goal of the game but with great teamwork, the Gryphons worked together to steal, stop and save goals resulting in a 0-0 score at the end of the 1st.

In the 2nd, the Oakville Rangers were able to score the first goal of the game with an unlucky rebound off a great save made by Anderson Mau. The Gryphons fought back with a number of shots on net but were not able to tie the game going into the 3rd period.

With encouragement from coaches and teammates, the Gryphons started the 3rd determined to score. Within the first 2 mins of the 3rd period, Tyler Kelly was able to score to tie the game 1-1 with a great top left corner shot on net assisted by Parker White and Jake Annis. The game continued to be an end to end battle with the Gryphon goalies both determined to not allow another Ranger goal.
With 2 mins left in the 3rd, the Gryphons were given a penalty giving the Rangers a chance to score and win.....but with great defense by both the forward and defensive lines, the Gryphons killed the penalty off. With only 5 seconds left in the game, the Rangers had a breakaway but Trenton Goode stood his ground and stopped the puck with a great save!!! The crowd went wild!!!!! The game ended with a 1-1 tie!

The "Play of the Year" goes to Parker White who saved a goal by jumping over the Gryphon goalie Trenton Goode who went down into his butterfly to save a hard shot on net. Parker determined not to allow the rebound to go into the Gryphon net to score, used his body to shield the puck from going into the net. Both teams and the crowd cheered for such an amazing play!!!!

The Gryphons are ready to play their next game against the Burlington Eagles next Saturday January 21st @ 12:00pm.
