TYKE A GRYPHONS BEGIN THEIR EXHIBITION SEASON
The Tyke A
Gryphons began their exhibition season this past weekend with two games. The excitement
began on Sunday morning when the Gryphs hosted the Stratford Warriors for an
exhibition tilt at the West End Community Centre. For many of the Jr. Gryphons
this was their first taste of a real hockey game. However, the Gryphons showed
no signs of inexperience. They played incredibly well on their way to a 5 – 4
victory.
Finn Pettapiece held the Gryphons in the game early with some incredible goaltending, including a big stop on a Warrior break-away. The rest of the Gryphons took it from there and used a balanced attack and some solid defense to earn the win. The Gryphons received goals from Sawyer Smith, Greg Franklin, Luca Rossit, Gage Thompson and Nicco Seminara.
On Monday, the Gyphons returned to ice for a game against their rivals from Halton Hills. Despite a solid start, and the stellar goaltending of Tyson Morrison-Brewster, the Gryphons could not sustain any attack against the Thunder. The Gryphons lost 4 – 0.
The Gryphons will return to practice and prepare for their rematch against the Warriors as they will visit Stratford on Sunday September 25th.
