Atom AAA Update
Game #2 for the Atom AAA Gryphs put the club on the road in a rare sunday matinee against the home Brampton 45's. The game was a chippy affair but the boys battled well and snagged an early lead on a goal by Brady Smith. The 45's countered with 2 power play goals and took a short lead 2-1. After a sweet breakaway goal by Alex Rossi, the Gryphs answered again with 2 power play goals of their own, the first by defenseman Hunter Solomon on a seeing-eye shot that found the top corner of the net and the next by Sam Black that made the score 4-2. The Gryphs held this lead for good.
Guelph struck again to make it 5-2 in the third on a hard-nosed goal by Owen Power who crashed the net and slid the puck past the shocked 45's goalie. A late goal by Brampton with under a minute to play in the 3rd made the final 5-3 for the visiting Gryphs. Ethan Lawrence played solid between the pipes for Guelph for his first-ever AAA victory and the first win for the Gryphs of the SCTA campaign.
Next action for the boys is monday night in Hamilton to take on the Bulldogs.
