Home and Home with the Sabres
Last week’s schedule saw the Novice AA Gryphons play a home and home series against the Flamborough Sabres.

On Wednesday, the Gryphons played host to the Sabres. The game was a closely contested affair for several minutes until Gage T pounced on an Auguste T rebound two minutes into the second period to open the scoring. This provided the boost that the Gryphons needed as Tyson D found the net with a shot from the point two minutes later, and Gage T scored his second of the period, and the Gryphons had a 3 – 0 lead. Ryan M snapped home a beauty from the point to give the Gryphons a 4 – 0 lead heading into the final frame, where Gage T completed the hat trick with his third of the night. The Gryphons defeated the Sabres 5 – 0.

The Gryphon defense led by Evan P and Parker W were on point this evening with some fantastic d-to-d passes and great puck movement through the neutral zone, while Finn P earned the shutout in the Gryphon net.

On Saturday, the Sabres returned the favour by hosting a matinee in Flamborough.

Sawyer S got the Gryphons going 8 minutes into the game, finding the back of the net for an unassisted marker. Gage T, Nate M, Nicco S also tallied for the Gryphons while AP call up Tyler K impressed while rounding out the scoring. The Gryphons defeated the Sabres by another 5 – 0 score.

This time, it was Tyson MB backstopping the Gryphons to the shutout while Luca R and Ryan M impacted the game on the Gryphon blue line with several nice passes and tough defensive play.

Colin C and Lucas S were recognized as lead dogs for their strong forecheck and offensive zone play.

With the victories the Gryphons improved their overall record to 16 – 4 – 1, while their TriCounty record improved to 10 – 0.

This week, the Gryphons travel to Milton to face the 2nd place Winterhawks, and host the Caledon Hawks.
