U16 AAs are Tri County Champions!!
After a perfect 9-0 round robin, the Guelph Gryphons U16 AA team faced some of the top teams in Ontario to take the Tri-County Championships!

The Gryphons would go up against Caledon in the quarter final game. The winner of this contest automatically clinched their spot in the OMHAs which had both teams amped up! The Gryphons would jump out early and never looked back taking the game 7-0 and securing their spot.

Up next was one of our biggest rivals, Burlington - Gold. With the mindset that the name on the front of their jersey didn't mean anything to the U16s, they took the game by storm and won 6-1.

Onto the finals vs our biggest rival, Halton Hills Thunder. This matchup set the U16 Tri-County finals as the 1-2 ranked teams facing off against each other. This series didn't disappoint with Halton taking game 1 in Guelph 2-0.
Game 2 was a must win for the Gryphons and with a packed house they showed up! The boys would find a way to beat Halton's goalie and took the game 5-3.
The very next night we headed back to Guelph for game 3. Victoria arena was packed full of family and friends and weren't disappointed in the game. The Gryphons would jump out to a 3-0 lead only to have Halton storm back with 3 unanswered of their own. After regulation the game was still tied 3-3. A 10-minute sudden death OT would solve nothing. To find a winner this game was headed to a shootout. The crowd holding their breath and then going nuts after each save. Down to the 5th and final shooter, the Gryphons would score, igniting the fans and team to a huge celebration!
In front of a huge home crowd the Guelph Gryphons were crowned Tri-County Champions!!

Congratulations to all the players and coaches for this achievement! Good luck at the OMHAs and bring home those #Redhats!
