Minor Peewee AA Earn A Point In Niagara Falls
The Gryphon Minor Peewee AA headed down the QEW on Tuesday night to battle the Niagara Falls Flyers. A late power play goal in the third earned the Gryphs a 2-2 tie with the hometown Flyers.
The Guelph squad struck early, opening up the scoring 2:59 into the contest. While on a 5 on 3 powerplay, Tyler Chadwick set up on the half wall and played catch back and forth with defenseman Nathan Schlitt. Chadwick then walked in and ripped a shot that deflected off a Flyer's defenseman to give Guelph an early 1-0 lead.
Niagara Falls responded with two goals in the second period and took a 2-1 lead going into the third period.
With just 3:06 left, Guelph struck once again on the power play as Carden Rogers-Hickman and Zac Conroy worked the puck over to defenseman Xander Speakman who found the back of the net to tie the game and give the Gryphons a point.
The Gryphons (1-1-1) return to action on Saturday night when they host the undefeated Burlington Eagles Gold.
