The boys deserved better than the outcome on this game. The Saints scored 3 goals on 5 shots in the first period, the definition of puck luck.
The Saints locked it down in the second and we weren't really able to break thru like we needed too.
For the third period, we held the pace of play and outshot the Saints 15-3. They took our strongest counter punch and held on for the win.
A bounce the other way, a cheap goal for us and the momentum would have changed in our favor. it just wasn't our teams day.
I am disappointed in myself for not having an answer strategically for the players and not being able to motivate them to another gear. We tried tough love, motivation, positive reinforcement. It just wasn't the coaches day either it seemed.
Adversity is the best teacher in life, you need to lose to learn how to win. You need to hate that feeling of losing to learn how to dig deeper to overcome a tough team.
We have 3 games and two practices left to get ready for Ottawa, we will be ready and already hate to lose!!
