Atom AA Drop Tri County Opener In Penalty Filled Affair
The Gryphon Atom AA traveled to Brampton on Monday night to open the Tri County Playoffs.  In a battle of special teams that saw each team take 16 minutes in penalties, the Gryphons were unable to overcome a three goal deficit and fell to the 45's 3-2.

Brampton scored the only goal of the first period when they struck with just 40 seconds remaining to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Gryphons were unable to generate offense in the second period as they were forced to kill five penalties in succession.  They were successful on the kill however as the score stayed 1-0 after two periods of play.

Brampton struck with goals at 4:10 (power play) and 6:03 of the third period to take a 3-0 lead.   Guelph finally got on the board with 2:17 remaining as Logan Biser found the back of the net with assists going to Zac Conroy and Landon Mitchell.   With the goalie pulled,  Landon Mitchell scored with 1:00 remaining to make it a one goal game.   Unfortunately, that would be a close as Guelph would come as the final horn sounded and Brampton took home a 3-2 victory.

The Gryphons (0-1) return to action this Saturday when they host the Garden City Falcons.
