Gryphons Defend Home Ice in Home Opener
Sunday evening the Minor PeeWee AE team returned to the ice against Flamborough-Dundas and skated away with a 7-1 win to open their home schedule.

The first period got off to a familiar start for the Gryphons, with a sluggish first few shifts that had them back on their heels. But steady defensive play and some highlight real saves from Lucas Jones kept the game scoreless for most of the first period. Then with just over 2 minutes to play in the first, Caleb Davison ripped a shot that found the back of the net and gave the Gryphons the lead.

The second period again saw the Gryphons start off on their heels, but this time  Flamborough-Dundas tied up the game at one's when aggressive play by their forwards caused a turnover and sent their player on a breakaway that would not be stopped. The squads continued to exchange chances for several minutes, until four-and-a-half minutes left in the frame, Kenny Beynon fired a shot past the Flamborough-Dundas goalie after receiving the puck from Jackson Byard. Then less than a minute later, Nate Taylor fed the puck to Peyton Markwood who buried the puck and extended the lead to 3-1. Owen McNamee also drew an assist on the goal.

The third period was trademark Gryphons hockey. Constant aggressive pressure by the forwards along with the deep pinching defencemen, caused many turnovers and great scoring chances. Nate Taylor opened the third period scoring three minutes into the frame,  with McNamee and Markwood drawing assists on the scramble play in front of the opponents net. After hitting several posts and cross-bars, the Gryphons finally added to their tally when Kenny Beynon tapped a cross-slot pass from Chace Roffel. Three minutes later Oliver Fletcher made the score 6-1 off a pass from Conner Laskowski. Milan Wilson finished the scoring with just over a minute left in the game on a goal from Beynon and Fletcher .

The Gryphons return to the ice on Monday night when they skate into Brampton to take on the '45s.
