The Tyke A Jr. Gryphons wrapped up their regular
season last week with games against Oakville and Burlington.
On Tuesday, the Gryphons turned in an incredible performance and defeated the Oakville Rangers 3 – 1. Gage T. Nicco S. and Sawyer S. provided the goal scoring in a game that included several amazing passes and lots of solid team play. Lucas S, Tyson D, Nicco S and Sawyer S were exemplars of this team play while Finn P and Tyson MB provided some incredible goaltending in backstopping the Gryphons to their victory.
On Friday, a shorthanded Gryphons team tried their best to block the Christmas break from their minds long enough to take on the Burlington Eagles. The Gryphons came up short in their efforts, falling to the Eagles by a score of 4 – 3. Nicco S. (2) and Gage T. provided the Gryphon goals while Sawyer S., Luca R., and Wyatt M., had one assist each. Evan P., Nathan M., Greg F and Lucas S provided some fantastic play on both forward and defence while Ryan M, Alex C. and Jaxson S. made solid contributions on both ends of the ice.
The Tyke A Gryphons finished the regular season portion of their schedule with a 4 – 9 – 5 record, good enough for 5th place in Tri County’s Tyke 1 hockey league. The Gryphons will start their playoff run on Saturday January 7th when they host the Halton Hills Thunder.
