Minor Atom AE Even OMHA Quarter Final Series With Game 2 Victory
The Gryphon Minor Atom AE's looked to bounce back from Monday's Game 1 overtime loss when they traveled to Milton on Saturday afternoon to take on the Winterhawks.  With a solid team effort, the Gryphons evened up the best of five series with a well deserved 3-1 victory.

The Gryphons came out hard but it was Milton who drew first blood.  After several Guelph chances in the opening shifts,  Milton came down and opened the scoring 2:46 into the contest.  The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Winterhawks heading into the first intermission.

After a tense second period filled with near misses at either end,  Guelph finally got on the board with 2:55 remaining in the middle frame when Caleb Davison hit Peyton Markwood with a breakaway pass in the neutral zone and Markwood was able to shovel the puck in as he was being hauled down to make the score 1-1.  The score remained tied after two periods of play.

Guelph scored the game winner with 6:39 remaining in the game.  Matthew Mainprize dug out the puck from behind the Milton net and hit Adrian Tersigni with a pass in the slot.   Tersigni slid the puck cross crease to a waiting Milan Wilson who slammed the disk into the open net.  As the minutes ticked down,  Milton hemmed Guelph in their own zone and pulled their goalie for an extra attacker.  After several failed attempts, Guelph was finally able to clear their own zone and work the puck down into the Milton zone and with 10 seconds remaining,  Liam Conlon scooped up a loose puck and shot it into the open net to insure the victory.

Maxwell Heroux came up with several big saves in the third period to get the win between the pipes and aggressive defense was played by Peter Schlitt, Jojo Piccone, Jackson Byard, Kai McCoubrey, Liam Conlon and George Dutrizac.

With the series now tied at a game apiece, the Gryphons get set to host Game 3 on Sunday evening.   Game time is 5:45 at West End.
